Customs Extends Deadline for Comments on Proposed Modification and Revocation of Ruling Letters Relating to Customs Application of the Jones Act to the Transportation of Certain Merchandise and Equipment Between Coastwise Points

On January 17, 2017, Customs and Border Protection published a notice in the Federal Register of its intent to modify and revoke its ruling letters pertaining to Customs application of the Jones Act and cabotage laws of the U.S. to the transportation of merchandise and equipment in coastwise trade. Comments on the proposed modification and revocation of these rulings were due by February 17, 2017. The comment period has been extended to April 18, 2017. In addition, the agency is requesting comments on whether the comment period should then be extended again.

In addition, the email address for any comments has been corrected and changed. The correct email address is:
