Dept. Interior Announces Transfer of Regulations Governing Offshore Renewable Energy Activities

After the reorganization of the former Minerals Management Service subsequent to the BP/Transocean Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the regulation of offshore renewable energy was within the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). The Department of the Interior announced that the regulation of offshore renewable energy will be transferred to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). There are no substantive changes to regulations or additional regulatory requirements as a result of this transfer.
